Finance Assistant

15 hours/week, Term-time only (39 weeks)

Kent Range 3 £5,346 – £5,879pa (£15,628 – £17,188pa Full-time Equivalent)

 

We are seeking a highly professional and organised administrator, ideally with Finance and/or school experience, to join our Business Operations Team.

 

This position reports into the Finance Officer and involves providing a Finance service to two schools; The Malling School and The Holmesdale School. However, this role will be predominately based at The Holmesdale School. The successful candidate will be required to carry out some duties at The Malling School, so the ability to drive and have access to your own transport is essential.

 

Both schools are 11-18 co-educational schools. Holmesdale is located in Snodland and The Malling School is in East Malling. Along with Finance, Business, HR and IT services are also provided across both schools. Therefore, this is an exciting opportunity to join an enthusiastic and hard-working shared support services team.

  

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Level 2 or above qualification in English and Mathematics
  • Some experience of working in an office environment and financial procedures.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • The ability to work with colleagues as part of a team, to be flexible, adaptable and to multi- task
  • Must be able to communicate basic financial information to teachers, other staff and external suppliers.
  • Knowledge of procedures for updating finance systems, processing orders and invoices
  • The ability to use own initiative, work confidentially and efficiently under pressure
  • Excellent organisational ability

 

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

  • Knowledge and experience of using SIMS FMS6
  • aware of KCC Financial Regulations and other relevant school policies
  • Experience of working in a school finance environment

Information about the school

A mixed 11-19 co-educational High School of 1000 pupils serving the historic market town of West Malling and surrounding villages. The school is set in pleasant rural surroundings and has its own lake and extensive grounds. It was completely re-built in September 2007 and therefore has outstanding facilities.

West Malling is close to the county town of Maidstone and has excellent rail links to London and Ashford International (for the Continent).
