Full-Time (32.5 hours per week)

Salary Scale – Main Teaching Scale plus SEN allowance

Meadows School is a successful non-maintained residential and day special school (7-19) run by Barnardo’s, providing education for pupils with Social Emotional and Mental Health difficulties; Autistic Spectrum Conditions, ADHD, Speech and Language difficulties and associated learning difficulties.

 

We are looking to recruit a full time teacher, who is able to teach Maths across the key-stages and ability ranges; someone who is able to adopt a flexible and solution focussed approach in teaching both challenging and vulnerable students. It is imperative that you have the passion for making a difference to the education and lives of the young people within the school and in building positive and supportive relationships. You should be a team player, resilient and motivated by challenge and have the ability to think creatively. You will need to be willing to work to Barnardo’s Basis and Values.

You will need to be an inspiring practitioner, who is able to deliver a differentiated and relevant up-to-date curriculum to students who are disengaged, with depressed literacy and numeracy skills and low self-esteem. You would need to be fit and able to conduct TCI (therapeutic Crisis Intervention) holds and physical restraints, once fully trained. You will work within a dedicated team, where a proactive and flexible approach is required. The maximum number of students on roll is 90, split over 4 key-stages. The position will initially be based at our main site; however, you will be flexible to work wherever required across the school site and key-stages.

Meadows School is a successful non-maintained day special school (7–19) incorporating an off-site primary campus run by Barnardo's. The school provides education for students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties; Autistic Spectrum Conditions, Speech and Language difficulties and associated learning difficulties. Students all have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) or are in the process of obtaining one. We offer placements on a 38 week Monday-Friday basis. Meadows School provides education and care for up to 100 students. The main campus is a 19 acre site with a large purpose-built school building, a gym block and post-16 provision. There are 8 classroom bases and several subject-based rooms including; science lab, IT suite and Food Technology area. The primary campus is in Tunbridge Wells and caters for KS2 students. Currently some 80 staff are employed across the school.
