Twydall Primary School are looking for Special Support Assistants to provide specific learning guidance and intimate care support to children with physical disabilities or complex medical needs and who have an Educational Health Care Plan.  Intimate care support is varied and dependent on the needs of the child but will include supporting at mealtimes, assistance with medication, support with occupational therapy targets and supervision during play and luchtimes to ensure Inclusion.  Learning Support is delivered at an individual and group level.

The posts are offered for either 31.25 hours per week working 08.30 - 3.15 or for 15 hours per week 12.30 - 3.30 for 39 weeks per year.  Please indicate on your application whether you wish to apply for the full day position or afternoons only.

  • have experience of working with children who have SEN/Physical Disabilities
  • are knowledgeable and able to plan and deliver exciting learning experiences based on children's interests and developmental needs
  • are able to demonstrate sound classroom practice
  • are organised, flexible and enthusiastic
  • are able to work as part of a team to achieve the very best for our children
  • have the ability to deal sensitively and in confidence with a wide range of issues relating to children and working practices
  • are supportive of the inclusive ethos of the school
  • maintain professional relationships with children and their families

Our School is a fully inclusive environment for children aged 3 to 11, with large facilities for both indoor and outdoor learning.

The school is a larger than average primary school with circa 500 pupils and is a central part of the local Community, with large grounds, and an excellent outdoor learning environment. Twydall Primary School is a unique school because it also provides a highly inclusive learning environment for pupils with complex physical needs and Hearing Impaired needs.
