Specialist Teacher for Communication and Interaction.

 

We are looking to appoint a Specialist Teacher for SEN and Disability (SEND) specialising in Communication and Interaction to join an enthusiastic, dedicated team supporting high quality teaching and learning for children and young people in Canterbury. The Specialist Teaching and Learning Service for the Canterbury District is managed by St Nicholas School.

 

The successful candidate will have QTS, exemplary classroom skills and have , or be willing to undertake, an advanced qualification in Autism or SLCN.   As a specialist teacher for communication and interaction you will provide high quality, highly specialist information, intervention and support for children with SEND and therefore require an excellent track record of supporting children and young people with a range of communication and interaction SLCN needs.  You will be able to demonstrate evidence of recent continuous professional development and how this may be applied within this specialist area.

 

The successful applicant will have strong interpersonal and communication skills and be able to demonstrate successful sustained experience of working collaboratively with parents/carers, teaching and non-teaching staff including SENCOs and/or members of the Management teams as well as other professionals through integrated working.  The successful applicant must be able to work as part of a team and be able to work independently.

 

You will be based at St Nicholas School, Canterbury and must be able to travel across the whole of Canterbury district and on occasion to other parts of Kent to meet requirements of the role.
