We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and experienced SENCO for 3 small village schools within our Academy. The role will cover across Lynsted and Norton Primary School, Selling CE Primary and at Milstead & Frinsted CE Primary.  The postholder will join our highly committed team and be responsible for leading inclusion and SEN within these schools with the support of excellent well being teams.


Candidates should have:

  • 5 years or more experience as a qualified teacher
  • Ideally the National Award for SEN Co-ordination or be working towards (applicants without the SENCo qualification will be considered - training can be completed once in post but previous experience working with children with Special Needs is essential.) 
  • Thorough knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice
  • The ability to lead staff in developing their knowledge and expertise in working with SEN children
  • experience of working with pupils with a range of different abilities and needs – SEND, LAC, Pupil Premium, EAL, G & T
  • Ability to monitor data and compile reports on the performance of specific pupils or groups of pupils.
  • The ability to support and overview the work of teaching assistants
  • Good communication skills and an ability to work within a small team
  • Good time management and organisational skills and experience of leading/managing other staff
  • The necessary communication skills enabling liaison with a variety of external agencies
  • Child Protection is a shared role with the Headteacher

At Milstead and Frinsted, we are a 4 class (year R, years 1 and 2, years 3 and 4 and years 5 and 6) Church of England primary school situated in a rural setting. Our school is a small, village school with mixed year groups.Children are happy and well-motivated. Parents, staff and senior leadership are very supportive of the school. The staff room biscuit tin is always full; staff are expected to adopt a sensible approach to work/life balance.
