  • This position, which is within our Secondary Department specifically teaching pupils within Key Stage 3, would suit a professional with experience of teaching pupils within a special school; however, we have an excellent Induction programme and can support those new to a special needs setting and NQTs.

  • Foreland Fields School is innovative and forward thinking, placing great emphasis on the development of all staff in order to ensure the best possible outcomes for pupils.

Foreland Fields School is highly committed to improving the life chances of our pupils and students and to the raising of standards throughout the school.  We place a firm emphasis upon the knowledge and skills needed for later life, working in partnership with parents to achieve this.

Pupils are taught in small needs-led groups of between 6 and 12 pupils per class. The ability to manage a small team of teaching assistants is required as is the capacity to liaise with a wide range of agencies such as therapists.

The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate:

  • the drive and ambition to improve the life chances of pupils with SEN.
  • the desire to continue to develop their own knowledge skills and understanding in order to deliver innovative and effective lessons.
  • a good understanding of current national, statutory and curriculum requirements.
  • the capability to deliver consistently good or better lessons.
  • a willingness to work with pupils and students across phases.
  • knowledge of teaching pupils with special educational needs in either a mainstream or specialist setting
