From March 2019 we are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated person to provide support to our families and children. The successful candidate will have excellent inter-personal skills, and will have a flexible approach to their working. Empathy and humility are core values for this role. As the Family Liaison Officer you would be working to provide vital support / empowerment to our families and forming part of the school's Inclusion Team. This post is a permanent position and is term time only (44 weeks) for 37 hours per week. 

At St. Stephen’s Infants the Family Liaison Officer is held in high regard by our families and staff. They provide active support for our families both inside and out of school. They use a wide range of skills and contacts to increase engagement with the school and improve the learning outcomes for all pupils.

Experience of working with children and families would be essential. You would also be expected to have experience of multi-agency working; in particular a good knowledge of social services and safeguarding procedures.

Other duties would include:

  • liaising with staff members regarding children and their families where necessary
  • encouraging good home / school communication
  • supporting parents to attend meetings and appointments
  • child protection and safeguarding
  • attend relevant training and development as identified by the school and through appraisal home visits
  • initiatives to engage parents
  • referring parents to local support services
  • supporting staff when necessary
  • working discreetly with children to support well-being
  • organising a wide variety of activities for children and their families

Ability to be confidential is essential. Counselling skills would also be an advantage.
