TEACHER OF FOOD PREPARATION AND NUTRITION

We are looking for a highly motivated teacher of Food Preparation and Nutrition to join a team committed to raising standards and expectations. We will consider NQTs along with experienced teachers.

This is a unique opportunity to be involved in and help shape our Academy, at an exciting stage in its development. The post reflects the continued expansion of the Academy and offers significant scope for professional and career development as the Academy continues to grow in size.

Food Preparation and Nutrition is a well established subject taught from Year 7 through to GCSE. Food Preparation and Nutrition GCSE begins in Year 9 and the team deliver this currently using AQA Board qualification. The Food Preparation and Nutrition department is part of the Science and Technology Faculty, which is a successful Faculty that has grown significantly over the past 5 years reflecting the growth of the Academy. The Food Preparation and Nutrition team consists of 3 subject specialists, one of whom is a Head of Food Technology and 1 Food Technician.

The Position

Working within the Faculty, the post of Teacher of Food Preparation and Nutrition is permanent and full-time. We have a strong commitment to professional development and provide appropriate training to ensure all teachers at the Academy are good and outstanding classroom practitioners as well as enabling them to grow as leaders for the future. The Food Preparation and Nutrition department is housed in two fully equipped classrooms adjacent to the Academy’s Catering Kitchen. We are seeking an outstanding subject specialist in Food Preparation and Nutrition who is keen to support the further development of the Science/Technology Faculty.

Information about the trust

The Trust comprises of Skinners’ Kent Academy and Skinners’ Kent Primary School.

The Academy opened on September 1st 2009. It is an independent, non fee-paying, mixed, all ability school, funded by the DfE and supported fully by its lead sponsor The Skinners’ School, a grammar school for boys and the Skinners’ Company. The Skinners’ Kent Academy Trust is founded on the principles of a culture of high standards and high aspirations, a culture of active participation, an emotionally rich learning environment and an inclusive environment where every child is known and every learner supported.
