Do you want to commit to help maintain and develop this successful KCC Special School

We are seeking someone who can be responsible for the security, health & safety, maintenance and improvement of the school building site and vehicles.

Personal Qualities and Experience:

  • Practical and professional with a positive ‘can-do’ attitude.
  • Extensive background in the building trade (minimum 2 years) to include experience in Carpentry, Plumbing and Electrics.
  • Use of a wide range of equipment/machinery e.g. kitchen, garden and general maintenance.
  • Understanding of health & safety requirements including (COSHH) and the ability to recognise and take action to avoid potential risks under Health & Safety Legislation.
  • Level 2/3 diploma (or equivalent) proficient technical skills, practical skills and a driving licence.
  • Computer Literate: Microsoft Office and the ability to use other job related IT applications.
  • Excellent literacy and numerical skills in order to complete recording of technical data for the school and Local Authority.

Portal House School is a K.C.C. Special School for up to 60 Secondary aged pupils who experience Social, Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties. Many also have medical conditions such as Autism, ADHD, ODD and attachment disorders.
