Kent Special Educational Needs Trust and the Collaborative Learning Alliance of Special Schools are committed to identifying the best practice across schools, from all phases and to provide opportunities to share the work of outstanding leaders, teachers, support staff and innovators for the benefit of all schools whilst also training and providing opportunities for the up and coming special needs teachers and leaders of tomorrow.

We have a new and exciting appointment for an administrator supporting and developing the work of the Trust as a whole, whose structure encompasses the Teaching School Alliance of 24 maintained special schools in Kent. The successful candidate will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team of the Trust.

Reporting to the Trust Company Secretary, you will ideally have experience of working in an fast paced and dynamic environment and therefore applicants should be proactive, efficient, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills combined with strong organisational and administrative abilities. The successful candidate will be the first point of call for all matters relating to the Teaching School.

We are looking to appoint someone who has: 

  • Experience in public or private sector administration.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • The ability to prioritise workload to ensure that all systems run efficiently to support the smooth running of the Trust and Teaching School.
  • A working knowledge of intitial teacher training would be an advanctage, although training and support will be provided to the suitable candidate.
  • You will have a positive approach to working with children and a commitment to our safeguarding procedures. 

The post is a one year fixed term contract, term time only plus two weeks, 37 hours a week.

Information about the school

The Beacon, Folkestone is a purpose built centre of excellence for learning, with outstanding facilities including hydro pool, hi-tech sensory rooms, soft play areas, state of the art PE hall, specialist subject rooms, sensory garden, grassed amphitheatre and life skills house.

The school building is specifically designed to meet the needs of the pupils and caters for 370 pupils aged 3-19 years with Profound, Severe and Complex Needs (PSCN).

The Beacon also hosts a Multi Agency Support Hub. This is one of four centres across the County that brings NHS colleagues, pediatricians, speech and occupational therapists, and nursing services, alongside children’s social services and portage colleagues into one cohesive centre. We are proud of the strong partnerships this brings to benefit the children and families of Shepway.

The Beacon is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and views it with paramount importance. It engages with children and staff in policy and practice developments, and proactively encourages feedback.
