The Downs and Northbourne CEP Schools became a Federation in September 2011. The Downs is a large two form entry Primary School, in Walmer. Northbourne is a rural five class primary school close to the village. Both schools take pride in having a strong sense of community and family. Both schools have extensive grounds, including forest school at Northbourne, and excellent resources. Both schools share a Governing Body and work very closely on school leadership, improvement and development opportunities.
Our Ofsted inspections graded both schools as good. Each school has a strong Christian ethos and active links with the local churches as demonstrated by our outstanding SIAMS inspections.
In April 2019, The Federation of The Downs and Northbourne CEP schools became a founding member of the Deal Education Learning Alliance Trust (DEALT) which is a MAT comprised of seven local primary schools within Deal and the surrounding villages. This unique and exciting collaboration of local schools work together to ensure the very best outcomes for all pupils and their families within our town.
Personnel across the Federation are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young persons.
