We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, confident and creative teacher with responsibility for Key Stage 3 English. The right candidate will be passionate about their subject and have the drive to create a positive learning environment for all students.  A key priority for St Augustine Academy is for all students to make excellent progress in English.

 

St Augustine Academy is a non-selective 11-16 school in Maidstone, Kent and the English department enjoys dedicated accommodation providing an exciting and vibrant learning environment with excellent resources, including interactive whiteboards.

 

The English department currently comprises 5 full time teaching staff and also 1 English Tutors providing small group and individual support.  This is a successful and growing department, where forward thinking and collaboration are valued and contribute to the strong team ethos that is evident.  The department has regularly achieved above national standards for GCSE results.

 

The Academy offers a broad and balanced curriculum which includes a comprehensive Enrichment Program where students have the opportunity to choose an activity to further their personal interests.  All staff are expected to offer an activity.  This role will also include being responsible for the pastoral care of a Mentor group, with students from all years as part of a Chapter based system.  

 

We have a rigorous performance management process which allows for enhanced pay progression.

 

Salary:  Main or Upper Pay Scale as appropriate, plus a TLR2A (£2,665 pay award pending)  plus a Recruitment and Retention Bonus of  up £2,000* paid in August 2020 (subject to conditions).
