Head of Science

Full time for April/September 2019

TLR 1.2

Required for April/September 2019, we are looking for a well-qualified, enthusiastic and experienced teacher to take responsibility for this key area of the school. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of successful teaching as well as being able to demonstrate the ability to motivate and lead teams of staff. There are currently two Key Stage Co-ordinators within the department and the new head of department will be expected to work closely with them as well as with the other teachers and science support staff to develop still further an exciting and progressive area of the curriculum. There will be the opportunity to teach A Level.

Fulston Manor is consistently one of the highest performing non-selective schools in Kent, success based on the quality of our staff and the excellence of our induction and support programmes. Two-thirds of the way through a £14 million building programme, the school offers an outstanding learning environment for all its students.

In order to apply please complete the school’s application form and send this in to the Headteacher with a covering letter (e-mail acceptable). All relevant details can be downloaded from the school’s website. For any further information, however, please do not hesitate to contact the school; you are, of course, most welcome to visit at any time.

This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Information about the school

Fulston Manor is an extremely successful, non-selective school, with a current roll of 1355, which includes a rapidly growing sixth form of approximately 300 and intense pressure for places in all other years. In addition to the school’s reputation for academic success and quality pastoral care, we are also involved in a significant amount of work with other schools, both providing intensive support and delivering a wide range of training opportunities. We have close links with local universities and are particularly proud of our staff induction programmes.

As lead school within a multi-academy trust, which includes a local primary school, there are numerous opportunities for staff to broaden their own professional experience and to seek career progression within the school. Many of our staff have achieved internal promotion and individually tailored development programmes ensure that appropriate training and support is provided for all. Everyone is encouraged to participate in whole school improvement work and we believe that this participation is a major factor in our continuing success.

This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
