Vacancy River Primary School

Year 2 Part Time Teaching Assistant

Hours per week: 20hours (10.00am to 2.00pm Monday to Friday)

Are you looking for the opportunity to work in a thriving school, whilst maintaining family commitments? Have you worked in education before and are looking to return? Are you passionate about extending potential in our learners, recognising individual qualities and strengths, and aspiring to attain excellence in learning support?

We are seeking to appoint a Teaching Assistant to join our committed, enthusiastic and skilled TA team. The role involves using your strengths and initiative to provide support to meet children’s needs and raise attainment. This contract would be temporary for a year in the first instance, linked to High Needs Funding to support the learning needs of a pupil in Year 2.

The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic, patient and motivated individual, with experience of supporting children in Key Stage 1. Are you the right person to take advantage of this opportunity? Please make sure that your application reflects the full range of skills and experience which you would bring to the post, which would make you the ideal candidate.

The successful candidate will:

  • Enable children to access learning experiences in their mainstream classroom by supporting them when they experience barriers to learning and by developing resilience and positive engagement
  • Deliver high quality personalised support on a 1:1 or small group basis to enable children to develop strategies to help them to manage their social communication, emotions and responses
  • Have a secure knowledge and understanding of the curriculum in Key Stage 1
  • Have a positive outlook; be patient, with a sense of optimism and the ability to be flexible in order to meet children’s needs
  • Work in partnership with the teaching team in Year 2 to ensure consistent approaches and strategies for identified children

Every child deserves a champion, an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection, and insists that they become the best that they can possibly be.

River Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. The successful applicant will need to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure via the DBS.

If you would like to visit our busy school before making your application, visits are welcome and encouraged. Please call the School Office to arrange a visit.
