We are seeking to appoint a Midday Supervisor to commence the end of January.  The post is for 1.5 hours per day, 11.45 am to 1.15 pm, term time only. This is a temporary position until the end of the 2018/19 academic year.

The successful candidate will have the ability to work effectively and enthusiastically as part of a team and be able to engage effectively with the children, extending them in purposeful activities and enhancing their social skills whilst having fun.  You will need excellent communication skills and have the ability to create a positive, inclusive environment.

We would expect the successful candidate to have a firm but fair approach whilst being patient and understanding.

The main responsibilities of the role are:

• To supervise pupils during mealtimes.  You will be responsible for ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the pupils, promoting good table manners and standards of behaviour and ensuring a calm and orderly environment.  This may involve assisting children with cutlery, crockery etc.
• To supervise outdoor play (or in bad weather, the classrooms / school hall).
• To encourage safe and constructive play.
• To minimise the risk of playground accidents, but where they do occur, treating the incident in the correct manner, as per our First Aid Policy.
• To intervene where appropriate to avoid arguments/unkind behaviour and responding to such situations according to our Behaviour Policy.

Remuneration will be on Kent Range 2 pro rata to actual hours (actual pay equates to £2612.21 pa, for 7.5 hours p/wk, 38 weeks p/year)

Riverview Junior School is a very popular four form entry Key Stage 2 school on a large site we share with the Infant School.
