We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and dedicated colleague, to enable our students to reach their potential.

A rare vacancy has arisen within our Specialist Resource Provision – Nick Horny Centre, and we welcome applications from teachers with significant SEN experience, looking to move to the next step in their career.  This role is a permanent, and full-time, and attracts an SEN allowance of £4242 per annum.

The Nick Hornby Centre is a provision which supports students with a primary diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to enable them to access their education in a mainstream school. A team of dedicated and experienced staff offer in-class academic and emotional support for students in KS3, KS4 and more recently KS5.

The Centre is also able to offer small group and 1-1 teaching supporting Literacy and Numeracy for students where the need has been identified. All students take part in a social skills programme and students in KS3 have the opportunity to take part in our outdoor classroom.

The aim of the department is to enable students to access a mainstream setting by breaking down the barriers to learning and engaging in education by using a wide range and variety of interventions and strategies.

Ofsted have commented that our students are “friendly, polite and welcoming” and that behaviour is outstanding “in a significant proportion of lessons”.

Information about the school

Welcome to Meopham School, where a traditional family culture combines with an ambitious ethos for excellence.

Meopham School is situated in a beautiful village location. Our staff love working in our warm, friendly, family environment. Our reputation in the community is second-to-none. Our students are wonderful ambassadors for us, both in school and beyond.

Our ethos creates a supportive, energising and inspiring climate for success. Indeed, we were recognised as the highest performing non-selective school in Kent for the third year running in the January 2019 school Performance Tables. We were also judged as Outstanding by Ofsted in January 2019.

However, at Meopham School we measure success not just in terms of excellent academic outcomes, but also in the development of strong character. Our traditional academic curriculum combines with our Excellence Through Character curriculum to ensure that every student is nurtured to uncover their talents and aptitudes. We recognise that excellent examination results are only a part of the story. Qualifications and personality open doors initially, but it is strength of character which keeps those doors open and allows our young people to lead happy, successful and healthy lives.

We are proud that Meopham School students are curious in their learning, resilient in overcoming difficulty, and are confident in evaluating their own progress. As a consequence, they are ambitious to achieve academic and personal success, both in school and in the world beyond.

Meopham School is part of the wider Swales Academies Trust. Which has vastly grown into a variety of different schools in both secondary and primary sectors. We value children of all abilities and we offer a fully-inclusive environment where they can fulfil their undoubted potential. It is an environment where we will nurture them to become resilient, reflective in all areas of school life.  Our vision is to ensure that all of our students become well rounded, responsible, confident and articulate young adults the wider community can be proud of.
