Teaching Assistant (with MDS)

We wish to appoint an excellent and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and supportive team. We are looking for a TA with flexibilty, experience in learning support and the ability to contribute to our school's community. 

In addition to the TA role the successful candidate will also be required to take on the additional role of Midday Supervisor for 30 minutes each day. 

We have a supportive and enthusiastic team of school leaders, teaching staff, support staff and Governors who together, are committed to achieving this aspirational goal and to continue in our drive to raise standards. 

The successful applicant will be sensitive to children's varying needs, but be able to work under the guidance of the teaching team, SENCO and Leadership Team. 

The post will involve working to support the class teacher, supporting children 1:1 and working with small groups to support learning. 

The successful candidate will: 

  • have relevant qualifications in childcare and learning 
  • have experiecnce of supporting individuals and small groups of children in achieving the lesson objectives
  • be able to liaise with the class teacher, providing feedback and keeping records of progress and behaviour
  • support the social, emotional, behavioural and medical needs of pupils
  • Communicate with parents
  • Prepare resources and undertake administrative tasks
  • Display children's work creatively

This is a part time appointment working 39 weeks per year. 

The role is fixed term until 5th April 2018 but could be extended dependant on funding.

TA: 25 hours per week, Kent Range Grade 3 (9.00am - 3.00pm with some flexibility)

MDS: 2.5 hours per week, Kent Range Grade 2 (12.30pm - 1.00pm)

This post is considered to be a customer-facing position; as such it falls within scope of the Code of Practice on English language requirements for public sector workers. The school therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2010 to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. This will be assessed during the recruitment/selection process and probationary stages. 

 

Information about the school

The school was first founded in 1894 and has taught the children of Bean ever since. The new premises was opened in 1966. As a village school, we benefit from a sprawling rural location with easy access to the A2 and Bluewater. This provides many opportunities for creative and interesting learning opportunities for our pupils.

We believe that confident, independent children make effective learners who can make full use of the engaging curriculum we offer. We encourage our pupils to be inquisitive, to question and reflect. The school environment and ethos ensures that children, from the earliest age, develop a passion for learning and eagerness to do their best.
