We are seeking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant to support a child in a Reception Class with global delay, within a small group or individually. The role will involve role-modelling appropriate play, communicating clearly and encouraging the child to access learning within the classroom in relation to his provision plan.  The successful applicant will need to have experience of working with children with complex needs and be prepared to support with toilet training and change 'pull-up' nappies as required. You need to be able to demonstrate a good understanding of how to support a child with these needs within the mainstream setting; having some experience of early child development and a developmental play based learning curriculum. You need to be positive and creative in finding ways to ensure inclusive practice whilst enabling small steps of progress.  There could also be an opportunity for further hours for respite opportunities and cover for sickness/ training.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop further skills and expertise within this field of education. You will work as part of a very supportive team who have positive relationships with outside agencies . We are committed to the inclusion of all children within our care.

This is initially a temporary contract with the potential to be extended, dependent upon the child's progress.

Information about the school

Downs View is a three-form entry purpose built Infant School on the outskirts of Ashford. We have 270 children in our school. We enjoy an excellent partnership with other local schools and settings, including Kennington C of E Academy. We have five Basic Skills Quality Mark awards, a Healthy School Award, Platinum Travel Plan, Active Sports Mark, Governor Mark and Arts Mark Gold. In October 2023 we were graded Good by Ofsted with Outstanding areas. We have a Forest School area and extensive grounds which we utilise to maximise learning. We are part of a very proactive CATs collaboration where we benefit from working in partnership with fifteen other local schools in Ashford. We have two Senior Leaders in Education and have benefited from having a Maths mastery specialist; they enrich the opportunities we offer for all children. They also utilise their expertise to support other schools and colleagues. We value play and child-initiated learning across our school which has resulted in high quality learning through play both inside and outside.
