Do you believe that great schools educate the whole person, as well as ensuring excellent exam results?

Are you looking for an AHT role that encompasses both academic and pastoral responsibilities, preparing you for next steps in senior leadership?

If yes, this could be the role for you!

Northfleet School for Girls is at a very exciting point in its development. We had our best ever results in 2018 and are performing significantly above expectations for similar schools, including achieving 64% L4+ in English and Maths. However,  we believe that great schools develop the whole person, not just ensuring strong exam performance.

We are seeking a talented leader who will lead a College (mini-school model) and develop our work to ensure students leave with excellent skills to succeed in their chosen careers. We believe that this role is key in our move to become an outstanding school.

This role encompasses the following;

  • College Leader: You will lead an academic faculty including Science, Geography and DT. You will also lead a pastoral college of around 180 students, helping to ensure they are well cared for and engage with the school. This is great experience for anyone who is considering moving further in senior leadership.
  • Dream Big Programme: You will lead our whole school Dream Big programme which supports raising student aspiration and develops engagement in learning.
  • Trips/Visits: You will coordinate the trips/visits programme across the school, ensuring learning goes beyond the classroom and widen horizons.
  • Clubs/Enrichment: You will coordinate and develop the already very impressive clubs programme to ensure talents are developed and students engage in the community.
  • Work Experience: You will oversee the development of work experience to allow students to see the importance of their education for future life chances.

 As a school we will offer;

  • A comprehensive induction.
  • Extensive professional development with a view to supporting you into the next stage of senior leadership, including accredited courses such as NPQSL, NPQH and Masters.
  • The opportunity to be part of a whole school team which shares a strong vision and believes in the importance of working together to achieve this.
  • A school which values every individuals' contribution and seeks to develop teachers skills and talents across all areas of school life.

Northfleet School for Girls is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment. The appointment is subject to satisfactory references, medical clearance and an enhanced DBS check.

Applicants are welcome to contact the school for an informal visit or conversation with the Headteacher.

Please note we are ideally looking for a candidate who can start in April but we would consider a September start date for the right applicant.

  • Very strong academic achievement, significantly above Kent similar school averages
  • Continued oversubscription at both Year 7 and Year 12 (waiting lists Year 7 and Sixth Form entry)
  • A key emphasis that we are not an exam factory, we seek to develop the whole person with equal importance to academic performance
  • Valuing and developing our committed staff team through wellbeing support and further career opportunities
