We are looking to recruit a teaching assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child in our Year 3&4 class. The successful candidate would need to be patient and prepared to deal with some challenging behaviour.

At Penshurst we embed our Christian Values of compassion, trust, truth, friendship, determination and respect in all we do and say. We pride ourselves on doing things ‘the Penshurst way’; this means that we live by our vision of ‘faith in our future’ and we always treat others as we wish to be treated. Our staff team is friendly and supportive, and we can offer a beautiful school environment in a quiet village location.

This position is available as soon as possible for 18 hours per week, term time only. The working hours would be 8.45am to 3.15pm on three days per week (there is some flexibility on the days worked), including one half-hour lunchtime supervision duty each day.

The candidate will need to:

  • Be a positive and energetic person who loves working with children
  • Have a friendly and approachable manner
  • Be able to inspire and promote the learning of children
  • Have good English and Maths skills
  • Be able to form positive relationships with children and adults

This is a temporary position linked to the funding available for the individual child.

Applications will only be considered via the Kent-Teach website.  References will be requested prior to interview.

Penshurst is fully committed to promoting the safeguarding and welfare of children.  Any successful appointment will be subject to the relevant DBS checks, health questionnaire, references, self disclosure and so on.

Information about the school

We are a small village church school, at the heart of our community, set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. We have 80 pupils taught in four classes: Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2, Year 3 and Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6.

The school plays a very active role in the local and wider community and provides many opportunities for children to develop their talents and interests, whether this be in the sporting competitions we take part in or in our wide range of extra-curricular clubs.

Our staff team is small, friendly and mutually supportive, which we believe is a real strength of our school. Our Christian values are important to us and are at the heart of all we strive to achieve. We encourage all members of the school community to walk in the shoes of others; - demonstrating our understanding of the needs of others as well as promoting kindness at every opportunity.
