TEACHING ASSISTANT KEY STAGE 2 (Kent Range 3)

 

Monday – Friday 8.30am – 3.30pm

30 minute lunch break is allowed for each day.

You will be paid for 38 working weeks per year. 

Ideally the post holder should have:-

  • Successful recent experience of working with children in years 5/6.
  • Strong behaviour management strategies which contribute to a purposeful learning environment.
  • To work with groups of children both in and out of class and sometimes whole classes, under the direction and guidance of the class teacher, Inclusion leader.
  • Basic knowledge of first aid an advantage.
  • Must be able to use own initiative, work independently, motivate and inspire with a creative approach to problem solving.
  • Recent child protection training.
  • Must have the ability to work calmly under pressure and have the ability to adapt quickly and effectively to changing circumstances/situations.
  • Monitoring the progress of pupils and keeping accurate records, in order to ensure documentation of all interventions.
  • Supervision at playtime, and lunchtimes.
  • Preparation of some teaching and display materials.
  • Good standard of general education (i.e. NVQ level 1 or equivalent) together with excellent Mathematics and English verbal communication skills.
  • Previous experience (1-2 years) of working with children.
  • Use IT competently
  • Knowledge of policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety, security, equal opportunities and confidentiality.
  • Have the ability to relate well to children and adults.
  • understanding of additional needs desirable.
