Part-time EYFS teacher 0.4-0.6 FTE (fixed-term January-July 2019).

Palm Bay Primary School are looking for the right class teacher to join our team.

You will already be a great teacher who wants to develop into a truly inspirational one in the next phase of your development. Initially, this will be a fixed term contract from January-July 2019, but could become more permanent.  As a job-share you will be joining an experienced team, in an early years setting with a wonderful, well-resourced indoor and outdoor environment (including mud-kitchen and forest).

You could be looking for your first job or your twentieth - we are excited see what you could bring to Palm Bay.  We are happy to consider NQTs as well as more experienced teachers - as long as you are able to show a real commitment to demonstrating excellent practice for some of our youngest children.

You will need to show the ability to maintain exceptional standards of work and behaviour together with a passion for the development of children's oracy and independence through high quality child-initiated learning.

Palm Bay has a strong and innovative curriculum - we deliver Forest and Beach school, are part of the Maths Mastery family, have a clear focus on Reading for Pleasure, have Artists in Residence and links with the Turner Contemporary, a rich topic-based curriculum, great CPD opportunities - the list goes on!

Ideally we would like you to start mid-December, to enable a handover - you may be returning to teaching, an NQT, moving house, or just determined to start asap.

Our children deserve the very best so the successful candidate will:

  • Have an unswerving belief in the unlimited potential of all pupils
  • Have a proven track record of achieving excellent pupil attainment outcomes
  • Have experience of working in an early years setting; adult direction and planning
  • Possess the skills and determination to make a significant difference to the lives of Palm Bay pupils.

If you share our values of Respect, Teamwork, Creativity, Enthusiasm, Achievement and Perseverance and you are seeking a challenging but highly rewarding position then Palm Bay is the place to be.

We offer in return:

  • Fabulous children
  • A wide range of resources and a team approach to planning
  • A hugely supportive and friendly staff
  • A commitment to an engaging and immersive curriculum
  • A commitment to staff wellbeing and professional development

If you believe you have what Palm Bay is looking for please speak to Lizzie Williams, our Headteacher, and arrange a time to see the school in action.  School visits are strongly encouraged.

Information about the school

Information about the school:

At Palm Bay, we have very high expectations and standards of teaching, learning and behaviour as well as a clean, tidy, inspiring environment in which to learn and work.

We offer a broad and rounded curriculum, with plenty of opportunities for outdoor learning in our beautiful grounds and nearby beach. As an ‘Eco School’ we seek to promote care and responsibility for the environment and we have an active Eco Council. Our commitment to sports and the creative subjects is strong and we have a well-equipped music room, a specialist music teacher and a sports coach. Reading and oracy lie at the heart of our curriculum; we are committed to developing a love of reading in all children through ‘Reading for Pleasure’ and our pupils enjoy a spacious and well-stocked library.

Over the past few years, we have been developing our curriculum. The creative arts continue to remain a priority: we have four artists-in-residence who are based in our on-site studio space, close links with the Turner Contemporary Art Gallery and have gained the Gold Artsmark award. Committed to raising the aspirations and life-chances of the children we serve, we have an exciting personal development programme, which incorporates politics, careers-related learning and personal development, helping our pupils to become caring, active members of their community.

Testimonial from a current teacher:

“Palm Bay Primary School offers a welcoming and friendly community culture. Our school values of creativity, aspiration, resilience, thirst for learning, kindness and community are not only shown by the children, but by every member of staff too.

I completed my NQT year in July 2020 and have since taken on the role of staff governor and outdoor learning lead after training as a Forest School Leader. As an NQT I had weekly meetings with my mentor, supportive lesson observation feedback and I was always welcome to observe teaching practices in other classrooms. This support has continued into my second year of teaching at Palm Bay, and it is part of the ethos of our school. All staff are continually supported with their professional development through weekly CPD meetings, coaching and collaboration with other members of the team. The senior team involve the staff in key decisions and our ideas and suggestions are valued.

Pupil and staff wellbeing is also a key focus for Palm Bay. We recognise the importance of promoting positive wellbeing and mental health and we have a dedicated wellbeing team”.
