Wye School is part of United Learning, a large and growing group of schools aiming to offer a life changing education to children and young people across England. Schools within United Learning work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. By collecting expertise and combining resources, we help to make the tough job of teaching a little easier. With a shared curriculum and lesson plans from around the group available to all, our teachers have strong foundations to lead the engaging, rounded education our children deserve. Our intranet site, United Hub, is just one example of how we share this resource and communicate across sites, helping to simplify processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance. We reward our staff: with wide career opportunities – between Primary and Secondary, Academy and Independent – better pay, benefits, and ultimately the satisfaction of helping every child at each of our schools to succeed and reach their full potential.

Wye School opened in September 2013 with a single intake of Year 7 students who sat the school’s first GCSE exams this year and achieved excellent grades. This September the school welcomed our first 6th formers.  This is a comprehensive (mixed ability) school.  In June 2015, Ofsted praised our, ‘very vibrant and strong leadership … clear and aspirational vision,’ and, ‘high level of ambition for the students and the school.’

We are now looking to add to our close-knit team of dedicated and dynamic teaching staff.  We want to appoint a Teacher of Music, who is capable of teaching to at least GCSE.  Full-time or part-time applications will be considered.

We welcome applications from candidates with varying degrees of experience, including NQTs.

Wye School works closely with Ashford School (Independent School of the Year in 2011), in a model of state-independent school partnership unique to United Learning. We are a small, establishing school and this appointment would give you the exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of developing the curriculum, resources and strategy within your subject area and the wider school.

Applications will be considered on receipt. Suitable candidates will be interviewed on receipt of application and Wye School reserves the right to withdraw the position if an early appointment is made.

Information about the school

Wye School has a vision of excellence, a vision shared by all staff and students. Rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted in 2018, the school is dedicated to ensuring each student gains the knowledge, confidence and skills to make a success of their future lives. The school caters for Years 7 -13 with a roll of 600, housed in a new building situated in the beautiful Kent Downs countryside, offering an outstanding environment for staff and students. The first GCSE results in 2018 were above average for Progress 8 and above national average Attainment 8, and followed by an equally strong second set of results in 2019. Students are well behaved and hard working and our staff form a friendly and committed team. As the smallest local secondary school, great pride is taken in strong relationships internally and with parents and the community.

Located within close proximity of Wye village centre, the school is at the very heart of the local community and has the potential to grow into a truly exceptional school. Wye is perfectly located to enjoy the Kent countryside, whilst still being within an hour of London thanks to HS1.
