Otford Primary School is seeking to appoint an experienced Learning Support Assistant to work five days a week 11:15-3:30 (which includes 30 minutes preparation time)  up to 20 hours per week to facilitate the progress of an individual pupil within our school. Makaton experience is desirable and your duties will include working with a child with Down’s Syndrome in KS1. We are looking for someone who has;

  • confidence to assist with implementation of planned learning as agreed with teacher and is able to adjust the activities according to the pupils responses.
  • will support and scaffold the child’s learning in and out of the classroom
  • confidence to liaise with the class teacher, feedback on progress made.
  • confidence to share information about the pupil with other staff and external agencies.
  • Will communicate with parents on a regular basis.
  • Will arrange and supply resources.
  • Will attend to all personal needs including personal and social welfare, reporting problems to teachers when necessary.
  • is confident to work independently
  • enjoys working as part of a team 
  • holds the minimum qualifications of English and Mathematics GCSEs (A-C) /equivalent.

Otford Primary School is located near Sevenoaks, based in the historic village of Otford. We are a two-form entry school, drawing from the village and immediate surrounding areas with committed staff and parents. We like to maximise links within the village and local community.
