Salaried Graduate Tutor

 

Maypole Primary School wishes to appoint graduate tutors who is looking for experience in education in order to make a successful application for further training or for experience of working with young people e.g. teachers or educational psychologists.

Three Graduate Tutors who worked at Maypole in the last academic year are salaried School Direct Teachers at the school this acadmic year.  Three School Direct Students working in the school in the last academic year are now teachers at Maypole. See attached document, 'Graduates' Views at Maypole,' which includes an overview of the Maypole experience.

The post is an annual fixed contract for one year, usually an academic year, September until August. However, we are now looking to recruit an additional Graduate Tutor to join us in September 2018.

We will provide:

  • A salary equivalent to Grade 2, £15,627 pro rata for 35 hours a week (term-time only)
  • Experience working with 4-11 year old children in a high performing primary school
  • A thorough induction to working with children
  • Opportunities to work with children to support their learning in class, small groups and 1 to 1
  • Opportunities for working with children in activities beyond the curriculum that broaden their skills enrich their experience
  • Professional Development Training
  • Working with a team of dedicated teachers to add to the learning experience of pupils in the school

You will need:

  • A good honours degree (2:1 or above)
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills (at least B grade or better in English and Maths at GCSE)
  • A commitment to working with children and future career aspirations
  • An ability to use your initiative
  • To be willing to go the extra mile to gain the most from your experience
  • To commit to the academic year.
