An exciting opportunity for a passionate, skilled, flexible and committed professional to work with some of our students in our outstanding SEN school.We are increasing our Literacy provision and require a lead professional to push this forwards – Experience working with students who have SpLD is very desirable as is a willingness to train and specialise in Dyslexia. You will be supporting students with their academic achievement by leading on group sessions and individualised intervention as well as assisting with their personal and social development. This role is demanding and challenging, but very rewarding. A sound knowledge of relevant current issues, legislation and programmes for special educational provision & practice, with particular regard to raising the attainment of students with Dyslexia, is desirable to ensure that provision and interventions are relevant and current. All of our learners have ECHPs and as a school we are proud to promote the development of life skills and social development as equal to academic achievement. West Heath School work towards the end goal of helping students re-integrate into mainstream learning and preparation for adulthood.

 

Key Requirements

 

 

  • QTS/PGCE or equivalent
  • Experience in Dyslexia or SpLD
  • Understanding of SEN teaching strategies and techniques
  • Proactive, creative and innovative
  • Emotionally robust and resilient
  • Flexible and adaptable
  • Experience of working in SEN schools preferred but not essential
