'Staff are positive about the future of the school and agree with the

changes. This is no small feat and is testament to the leadership' Ofsted 2018

We are looking for an experienced individual to manage the Academy’s Behaviour Intervention provisions for students who are at risk of exclusion.

Core responsibilities:

  • To ensure that students attending the Behaviour Intervention provisions are provided with outstanding pastoral care and appropriate, personalised guidance to modify their behaviour
  • To successfully reintegrate students with behavioural difficulties into the Academy, so that both fixed term and permanent exclusions are minimised
  • To make a substantial contribution to the development of the Academy’s Personal Development, Behaviour and Welfare systems

You will:

  • Have substantial pastoral experience that has involved working with adolescents with complex emotional and behavioural difficulties in an educational setting or a setting with close links with education
  • Hold one or more formal qualifications or accreditations which are relevant to the post
  • Have outstanding ‘people skills’ combined with a strong set of behaviour management strategies
  • Have a high level of ‘emotional intelligence’ and natural ‘connectivity’ with young people who experience complex emotional and behavioural difficulties

Bexleyheath Academy is an 11-19 academy of 1600 students situated in the London borough of Bexley. We are within easy access of the Dartford crossing and Blackwall tunnel  and only 30 minutes from central London on the train. We are an inclusive school at the heart of our community.

Since our last full inspection in May 2016 we have had a change in leadership and in January 2018 we welcomed our new Principal Dan Steel. Much hard work has already been undertaken including embedding a new curriculum, re-modelling pastoral structures and ensuring that all members of the academy community understand the vision of ‘making our best better’. We believe that whilst there remains much to do the academy is now well placed to quickly move towards our aim of being a 'good' school.

We welcome visits to the Academy, to see the school in action and discuss the post. To book an appointment please contact Carla Golding HR Manager cgolding@bexleyheathacademy.org

Information about the school

Bexleyheath Academy is proud to be a non-selective school in the grammar heartland of Kent. Bexleyheath Academy is quickly approaching capacity with students; in order to accommodate the demands of the local community and grow our skilled staff, we must expand.

Joining a flourishing school at this time is an amazing opportunity!

With immediate train access to Central London and easy access to the Kent countryside, Bexleyheath has the best of both worlds. Despite having a Kent postcode, Bexleyheath is classified as Greater London due to its strategic location between Welling, Sidcup, and Bexley village. You can reach Dartford for the river crossing with a short drive along the A2.

Its thriving hub is The Broadway – a shopping district with added appeal in the shape of a bowling alley, cinema and a growing number of restaurants. A little beyond Bexleyheath and you’re at Bluewater, Ashford for the designer outlet and international rail travel to Europe.
