Are you looking to work in an exciting and enthusiastic team where all children are encouraged to learn and develop their independence through specialist teaching and learning targeted specifically to support their individual needs?

The Ivy Speech and Language Centre is a Kent specialist resource based provision for children with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) based at West Minster Primary School. We are part of the Sheerness West Federation, which has Rose Street Primary School as its partner.

Here in the Ivy Centre we promote a warm, friendly and stimulating environment, where talents are recognised and children with speech and language disorders are well supported in achieving their goals.

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant to cover a period of maternity leave, who can demonstrate:

  • A commitment to inclusion and passion about improving the life chances for all our pupils
  • A caring nature and excellent interpersonal skills is key to this role given the subject area, as well as high expectations of self and others
  • Ability to build strong partnerships with parents, teachers and support staff
  • Ability to work as a team
  • Be prepared to go the extra mile for our children and families
  • An understanding of the needs of children who have difficulties with speech and / or language
  • Knowledge and experience of working with children with additional needs
  • Awareness of issues surrounding safeguarding and child protection issues
