Do you want to join one of the top performing, modern, secondary schools in Kent? Thamesview school are seeking to appoint a passionate member of support staff who will join a team of Welfare Assistants to work closely with, and support the needs of physically disabled (PD) students.

The post holder will be required to support PD students both in the classroom and within the PD area with their learning and welfare needs in order to maximise their levels of achievement and independence. Experience of dealing with students’ welfare therefore is essential and the post holder will be required to undertake moving and handling training. 

This post is for term time only, working 34.8 hours a week (5 days) over 39 weeks per year; including staff development days. Salary is Kent Range 3, point 4 to point 8 pro rata. Plus SEN allowance of £1,241 pa.

Our ideal candidate will:

  • Liaise with the SENCO, school nurse and all appropriate external agencies where necessary 
  • Be able to collect and escort PD students to and from approved transport on school premises, as well as lessons and areas within the school
  • Assisting as required with other lessons specifically organised for PD students
  • Undertake first aid in cases of emergency
