We are situated in a rural area but very near major roads. We are a mixed ability school and support all children whatever their ability. Last year 100% of our children sat and passed the selection tests.

We have vacancies, due to growth, in Pre-School and in Reception classes from September 2018. This could be full or part-time. The responsibilty is to assist the class teacher and support their education of the class.

Applicants should have level 3 qualification in teaching assistant or child care and preferably have some experience.

The school is very small with 120 on roll and a maximum of 16 per class. We are a tight knit, friendly team who support each other and welcome everyone to our school.

We are committed to safeguarding and will require an enhanced DBS for any new member of staff.

Information about the school

Steephill School is a coeducational independent day school, for pupils aged from three to eleven years old. It is situated in the beautiful Fawkham Valley area between Dartford and Gravesend in a quiet lane overlooking the thirteenth century St Mary’s Church.

The school was founded in 1935 by Miss Eileen Bignold, who established its excellent reputation for high academic standards. In 1990, the school became a charitable trust administered by a Board of Governors.

Our small classes (maximum 16) bring out the best in young children who receive all the help and encouragement they need from our qualified, experienced teachers. Each child benefits from the individual attention necessary to achieve his or her full potential.

As a small school the staff, parents and children all know each other and this contributes to our happy, family atmosphere.
