Assistant Headteacher - Inclusion and Outreach

Start date September, 2018 or sooner if available

We are looking for an enthusiastic and well-qualified Assistant Headteacher. The role is to lead in developing and promoting Inclusion and Outreach in Special Education Needs (SEN) practice across Thanet.

The successful candidate will have an in-depth knowledge of SEN practices. They will be able to provide local management for specialist teachers and SEN specialist staff within the Thanet District.

In return the successful candidate will be a full member of the Senior Leadership Team at Laleham Gap School and will play a vital role in the school’s vision.

Candidates will have excellent interpersonal skills and a proven track record in whole school developments as well as at least two years’ experience at a leadership level. The role will include the line management of specialist teachers therefore, experience of successfully supporting, appraising, managing and sourcing professional development opportunities for staff is essential. Experience of Staff Performance Management is highly desirable.  This post is open to candidates with either mainstream or special school experience.

Laleham Gap is a Communication and Interaction Special School. We have pupils aged from 4 to 18 years of age. Most of our pupils have a diagnosis of Autism. All pupils have an EHCP. Most pupils will achieve some GCSEs or equivalent at age 16. Laleham Gap is a new, high quality and well-resourced environment and the opportunity to work with an established, experienced and highly motivated team.
