Advert

We are looking for an efficient, adaptable and friendly school secretary for our small rural village school. The post is for 35 hours a week, term-time only plus staff development days (5 per year). You will work alongside our part time bursar. The hours of work are 8.30 – 4.00pm with a competitive salary for the right candidate.

The role includes general office duties, administration of pupil data, secretarial support for the Head and teaching staff, liaison with parents, governors and visitors, dealing with some elements of finance (training for this, if needed, is available) and much more! Strong IT skills are essential and training on Sims/ FMS/ Microsoft Office will be given if required. Minute taking experience and a willingness to train for a First-Aid at Work qualification would be an advantage.

The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills dealing with a variety of people in person and on the phone so the need to exercise confidentiality and discretion is essential. The ability to be adaptable, prioritise workloads efficiently and use own initiative is also necessary.

See the JD for further details and please refer to it when applying.

The appointment is subject to the receipt of appropriate references, a satisfactory enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service and check against the ISA barred list for children.

Visits to the school are encouraged.

Information about the school

St Margaret’s, Collier Street is a small and welcoming Church of England village school which is ideally situated between Maidstone and Tonbridge. Our children, of which there are currently 124, are polite and love to learn. Our latest OFSTED report in May 2022 remarked that 'there is a strong culture of personal and professional support among staff'.

We are very well resourced and have a purpose built children's kitchen, additional teaching rooms as well as very spacious grounds. We offer a friendly school which maintains close links with the church and where everyone works together for the benefit of every pupil. We have very supportive parents and an active PTA.

Our school and all its personnel are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the children. This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
