Salary:  37 hours for 38 weeks per year, VIAT 4 £18,070 to £20,138 FTE

Valley Invicta Academies Trust is dedicated to providing outstanding care, outstanding education and outstanding opportunities. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a new, state of the art building with outstanding facilities.

We are currently recruiting for experienced and professional SEN Teaching Assistant to work in our Specialist Resourced Provisions within our primary schools. We have established a Specialist Resourced Provision for children with SEMH needs at Holborough Lakes and another for children with autism (ASD) at Kings Hill.  Initially, you will be based at Leybourne Chase (SEMH) but will also cover planned and unplanned absences at the other SRPs.

You will work closely with the teacher of the high needs provisions to support children on a 1:1 and small group basis both within the Specialist Resourced Provision and also in the mainstream classes, as part of their individualised inclusion plan. The pupils that you will be supporting will all have an Education, Health and Care Plan for SEMH needs.

The ideal candidate will be hard-working, flexible and adaptable, and will have a calm and positive approach to working with children with high levels of complex needs. Previous experience of working as an SEN Teaching Assistant in a similar environment is highly desirable. Recent experience of supporting with SEN, specifically in relation to behavioural needs (including Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties) and ASD, as well as literacy and/or numeracy is essential. The ability to work independently and use your own initiative is also vital.

You will also work very closely with staff at the other High Needs Provisions in the other primary schools, as well as with teaching staff in all of the schools and the Trust Director of SEN.

The successful candidate will:-

  • Have English and Mathematics GCSE (C grade or above).
  • Knowledge and experience of working with children with SEN
  • Have a first aid qualification or be prepared to undergo first aid training
  • Be able to support teaching staff in providing a stimulating and caring learning environment.
  • Be committed to supporting and nurturing children, adopting an inclusive approach that enables them to reach their full potential.
  • Motivate and inspire children to learn.
  • Be able to work as part of a team and on their own initiative.
  • Be able to adapt and respond to children’s individual emotional and physical needs.
