Office and Examinations Manager

Start Date: January 2018

Band 6  £19,609.00 - £21,510.00 (17,299.06 - £18,976.12 pro rata)

37 hours per week / 38 weeks per year plus 5 staff training days plus 10 additional days to be worked during the school holidays.

The Office Manager role will involve overseeing and ensuring the provision of a comprehensive, well organised and effective administrative and secretarial service to the school.

The successful candidate will also be accountable for the management and administration of internal and external examinations.  This will involve liaising with students, teachers, parents and external organisations.

The ideal candidate will be able to prioritise workloads, be well organised, calm and able to work on their own initiative. Attention to detail and the ability to scrutinise data is a vital part of this role, as are excellent written and oral communication skills.

Qualifications to A level or equivalent standard would be preferred; secretarial or business qualifications are desirable. An up to date knowledge of various IT packages is essential, including Microsoft Office suite and Google drive. Experience of working with data information systems and/or experience of working in a school would be advantageous. Knowledge and experience of working with SIMS is an essential requirement for this role.

Ofsted – ‘A good school, where students have exemplary attitudes to learning and achieve well.  The quality of teaching is at least good, with many examples of outstanding practice.’

Information about the school

The Sittingbourne School is a large, oversubscribed school built on a strong sense of community, making us a warm and very special place to be part of.  Our staff work tirelessly to ensure the wellbeing and happiness of every child. However, we are not a school where we allow ourselves to be defined or limited by the pastoral care we offer. We never forget that teaching and learning is our core business. Our motto is “Empowered through learning” because we believe that through excellent teaching and a fantastic curriculum every child can succeed, be happy and change their lives. Therefore, we are driving to ensure every child consistently receives high quality teaching and learning in every lesson and engages in a challenging and relevant curriculum.

This was reflected in our March 2023 Ofsted inspection report that states how, “Staff have high aspirations for what all pupils can learn and achieve. This level of ambition is evident throughout the school”. They also commented on how, “Pupils are proud of how tolerant and supportive their school is” and that, “The vast majority of pupils behave well in school”. The school was graded as “Good” for the third successive inspection.
