Part-time/Full-time TEACHING ASSISTANT

Starting December 2017

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant who can support a Year 3 pupil on a 1:1 basis who has Global Developmental Delay, including delayed development of Speech and Language. Ideally, the post is for 32 ½ hours a week, (part-time and full-time will be considered depending upon the right candidate) working every day of the week during term time plus five training days. This contract is temporary and supported by High Needs funding which is reviewed periodically, in the first instance in February 2018. The post is determined by this funding.

As with other roles in the school, this post involves regular contact with children and staff and therefore the successful candidate needs to be able to relate well to children and adults alike. A sense of humour is a MUST, as well as a ‘common-sense’ approach to the job and the ability to show initiative and adapt to any situation that may arise.

Ideally, in applying for this post you will have:

  • Good literacy and mathematical skills
  • Previous experience of working with children with emotional needs
  • Previous experience of supporting a child with an Educational Health Care Plan
  • Experience of precision teaching
  • Experience of pre and post teaching
  • Some experience of providing interventions to develop speech and language skills and a willingness to undertake appropriate training
  • High standards of work ethic and self-motivation
  • Good communication skills- will be able to regularly liaise with parents and outside agencies
  • Organised and can keep up to date records
  • Confident to attend and contribute in review meetings with parents and outside agencies
  • Can create resources and develop strategies to support the child
  • Develop a multisensory approach to learning

You will be expected to undertake all necessary training related to this role; as and when requested by the Headteacher.

Starting salary will be on Kent Range 3 (KR3).

If you wish to join our Outstanding school and work with a fantastic team then we urge you to come and visit.

Please contact Darlene Bushell to arrange an appointment.

Closing Date – Friday 10th November 2017

Interviews to be advised in following week.

Whitstable Endowed School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  The post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service and check against the ISA Barred List for children.
