Can you help our children achieve thier full potential? Do you bounce out of bed every morning believing you can make a difference? Do you enjoy celebrating success with pupils who find learning challenging?

Our school is seeking an enthusiastic and energetic teaching assistant to join our team to support children on a one to one basis who have special needs to fully access the curriculum. Some group work will be involved as we strongy believe that all pupils should be a valued mamber of their class, school and wider community. You will also need to be confident in talking with professionals and put into place any suggestions made.

Our Mission Statement - QUESTION, CHALLENGE, EXPLORE - is integral to all we do.

Come and be that teaching assistant that a child never forgets.

You'll see from our recent, highly complementary Ofsted inspection report that we ensure Sussex Road Primary School is an exciting place to learn and work:

  • Relationships between staff and pupils are respectful. Pupils are also happy to share their mistakes and talk about their misunderstanding because of the high level of trust between adults and pupils. This culture in classrooms has a positive impact on learning.

  • Pupils conduct themselves well around the school. Pupils are helpful and courteous to visitors and each other.

  • Teachers know pupils well and planned learning builds on what pupils know and can do.

  • Pupils are well prepared for life in modern Britain. The school’s values are known and understood. Pupils play an active role in developing their school and relish the opportunities they have to make decisions.

  • Adults have high expectations of children. As a result, children develop very strong personal and social skills. Children work well together and are highly responsive to adult direction and instruction. Routines are well established. Classrooms in the early years are busy and highly purposeful places to learn.

If you are passionate about ensuring every child succeeds to the best of their ability, we will ensure you are empowered with the support and career development to achieve this.

We welcome applications from either qualified teaching assistants, experienced teaching assistants or from those who are just starting out on their teaching assistant career. We also welcome any 'future teachers' who would like to get experience in a school setting.

GCSE (or equivalent) Grade C in Maths and English is essential for this post. You will also need to have excellent time management skills, ability to work using your own initiative and a sense of humour!

The post is for 29 hours, Monday-Friday from 8.45 until 3.15. The funding is linked to a child so will be subject to annual review.
