Valley Invicta Academies Trust requires SEN Teaching Assistant to support in the Specialist Resource Provision at our primary school at Kings Hill.

Salary:  37 hours for 38 weeks per year, VIAT 2 £16,303 to £17,419 FTE

We are currently recruiting for an experienced and professional SEN Teaching Assistant to work closely with the teacher of the high needs provisions to support to a Year 1 child with an Education, Health and Care Plan on a 1:1 basis.

The ideal candidate will be hard-working, flexible and adaptable, and will have a calm and positive approach to working with children with high levels of complex needs. Previous experience of working as an SEN Teaching Assistant in a similar environment is highly desirable.  The ability to work independently and use your own initiative is also vital.

The role will require you to: 

  • Encourage and support academic progress in classroom, however to facilitate learning outside the classroom in order to best meet the needs of the child
  • Work closely with CT in order to differentiate and build strategies for learning content at the start of the day using CT planning
  • Make and develop specific resources in order support the needs and learning of the child
  • Deliver the recommendations of the EHC including; sensory circuits, fine motor skills and nurture based activities
  • Record progress on a daily basis against the child's target and provision plan
  • Support the CT to develop plans and strategies in order to ensure integration into all lessons and activities

The successful candidate will:-

  • Have English and Mathematics GCSE (C grade or above).
  • Knowledge and experience of working with children with SEN with associated training profile.
  • Have a first aid qualification or be prepared to undergo first aid training
  • Be able to support teaching staff in providing a stimulating and caring learning environment.
  • Be committed to supporting and nurturing children, adopting an inclusive approach that enables them to reach their full potential.
  • Motivate and inspire children to learn.
  • Be able to work as part of a team and on their own initiative.
  • Be able to adapt and respond to children’s individual emotional and physical needs.
