Science Technician

A unique and exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in developing the future.

15 hours per week (2 days), term time plus 2 days in the school holidays

£5,498-£5,736 (pro-rata from £15,807-£16,491)

Use your inspiration and enthusiasm for your love of science to work as a technician supporting the work of science teachers.

You will be providing technical support and preparing for practical lessons, ensuring that equipment is available and functioning properly, mindful of health and safety. Working as part of an energetic and well established team, it is important to be flexible and able take direction as well as being able to work on your own initiative. Experience would be an advantage but is not essential, however a good level of organisation and ability to time manage are important.

Information about the school

Homewood School and Sixth Form Centre is a mixed 11 – 18 wide ability school with Academy status with 2000 students including 350 in the Sixth Form. We are part of Tenterden Schools’ Trust working in collaboration with local primary schools and nurseries serving the Wealden town of Tenterden and the surrounding villages. The school is situated on the edge of Tenterden and enjoys a large semi-rural site overlooking open countryside. Home Farm Nursery is based in the grounds of Homewood School.

Homewood has excellent facilities for all its students and our specialisms in Performing Arts, Applied Learning and the Rural Dimension underpin our approaches to learning which are designed to raise achievement across the whole student body. We aim to maintain and develop the cultural aspirations of the school community in line with our priorities of “belonging” and “respect” and offer a broad range of curriculum opportunities in all subject areas. This also extends into the local community through partnerships across primary, secondary and higher education sectors as well as non-educational community partners.
