The Governing Body of St Thomas' Catholic Primary School (Voluntary Aided) are looking to recruit a new Deputy Headteacher - with three days class teacher responsibility and two days leadership time - for our 'Outstanding' school (Ofsted, Jan 2016 and S48 RE Inspection, Mar 2017).

Since our Ofsted inspection, we have embarked upon a new journey, not only to sustain our 'Outstanding' status, but to further develop and enrich our exciting curriculum, providing opportunities for creativity and risk taking - thinking outside the box!

This is a great opportunity for someone who is keen to develop their leadership skills within a voluntary-aided Catholic school (we are not part of a multi-academy trust). We are a school family that is friendly and culturally diverse with strong links to our parish, St Thomas of Canterbury Catholic Church.

We are looking for a Deputy Headteacher who will:

  • Be a committed practising Catholic with a clear understanding of Catholic education
  • Be an outstanding, experienced classroom teacher
  • Have a successful track record in ensuring all pupils make good or better progress
  • Have proven leadership skills in raising standards through core subject leader responsibility
  • Have the ability to take a lead role in curriculum developments
  • Be an inspiring role model for staff and pupils
  • Be able to lead and motivate colleagues
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills.
