Offham Primary School are currently seeking a full time caretaker to join our happy school family.

Are you a hands on and proactive person who would enjoy helping us keep our school looking great? Our ideal caretaker would be someone who would enjoy undertaking practical jobs around the school premises such as painting, minor repairs, moving furniture, DIY jobs etc. Our children want someone kind and happy who will talk to them around the school, let them ask questions and help with some jobs but most importantly keep them safe by maintaining a high standard within the premises.

This role is a full time position including school holidays, 35 hours per week (Monday to Friday) times to be agreed. Our new caretaker would need to be prepared to take care of our site before and after school and for a period of time during the school day, however designated hours are flexible and can be negotiated. We would require our new caretaker to help us to keep our school site safe and secure, responding to any out of hours’ alarm call outs and working flexibly in the event of extreme weathers. We would ideally like someone who would help ensure the school is secure for lettings and evening events. Holiday periods are flexible and can be negotiated, but would preferably be taken in term time to ensure site security during school holidays.

We are ideally looking for someone who would confidently manage any external premises contractors, be prepared to chase up and ensure that jobs around the school get done and help to manage our external cleaning contractors. Our staff want our school to look spic and span, reflecting the high standards we are committed to in our teaching.

Legionella checks, boiler maintenance and asbestos monitoring will all be essential aspects of the role. Previous experience of caretaking and existing certifications would be most desirable, but a willingness to undertake training would also prove of interest.

Pay for this position is negotiable between KR2 £14,856 and KR5 £17,827 depending on experience and existing expertise.
