We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Job Coach to work with Post 19 students from September 2017.  Candidates could come from a variety of backgrounds although experience of Special Educational Needs would be preferred.  The successful candidate will have a passion for working with young people with Special Educational Needs and possess excellent interpersonal skills.  Candidates must be able to use their own initiative and be committed to working as part of an established highly motivated team.  The post will be mainly based in the Gravesham area with a base at the Ifield Sixth Form Link Centre within North Kent College, Gravesend Campus.

 

Job Coaches provide workplace support for young people with profound, severe and complex needs and need to be flexible, adaptable and creative.  Applicants will need to possess a diverse skill set, including the confidence to work effectively with young people, employers and parents / carers.

 

The primary role of a Job Coach is to provide support to young people to enable them to gain, learn from, develop in and maintain their internship and to make a positive progression on to paid sustainable employment wherever possible.  Job Coaches provide tailored support to employers to enable them to offer a meaningful internship.

 

A Job Coach must be able to:

 

  • Drive between sites
  • Encourage and motivate others
  • Believe in the supported internship programme and the young people's ability to interact professionally with interns, employers, families and colleagues including those from other agencies
  • Prioritise and manage their time effectively
  • Liaise with a wide variety of people within the business and public services settings

Ifield is a Foundation District Special School for pupils with profound, severe and complex learning needs and communication and interaction difficulties from age four to nineteen. Ifield School has a dynamic and innovative staff who work closely with pupils to create an ethos of care, respect and success.
