The Governing Body of St. Peter’s is seeking to appoint a Clerk to the Governors who is reliable, confident, organised, with good interpersonal and communication skills and with an interest in school governance. The successful candidate will need to be competent in ICT skills and have secure access to a computer and the internet.

The Clerk will be accountable to the Governing Body, working effective with the Chair of Governors and the Head Teacher.  The Clerk will provide procedural and legal guidance, collate and distribute agendas and papers in advance of meetings, take accurate notes to produce well presented minutes for distribution and co-ordinate appeal panels and hearings.

There are 7 full governing body meetings per academic year from 6.00pm – 8.30pm on a Tuesday, a pay panel meeting once a year, a planning day once a year which is held during July and occasional meetings organised for governor training or exceptional circumstances. Dates for all meetings are set well in advance. The contract will be for 80 hours for a fixed period of one year.  Please see attached job description and person specification.

Information about the school

St Peter's Church of England Primary school is a small, family school with around 105 pupils. We are located in the East End of Folkestone overlooking the harbour and on the same site as St Peter's Church. Our Christian ethos is based on the Gospel Values. We provide a warm, friendly, supportive atmosphere where we all work together to ensure every child flourishes and achieves their full potential. We always look for staff who will bring their passion for education and humour to join our dynamic and extremely hardworking team. St Peter's was last inspected in June 2019 and was judged to be Good. Our SIAMS inspection carried out in July 2018 judged the school as Outstanding.
