                       Teaching Assistants Required

                  32 hours per week for 39 weeks of the year

                     (term time only + 5 staff training days)

                       Required to start: September 2017

 

Portal House School is a successful KCC Special School for secondary aged pupils who experience Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs

 

Due to the expansion of our School we are looking to appoint enthusiastic, experienced and skilled Class Based Teaching Assistants.

You will be expected to support students learning across the full range of subjects to GCSE level and help students to make positive choices with their behaviour, social and emotional responses.

Information about the school

All 80 students on roll have an EHC plan with SEMH or ASD as their main SEN need. Most have additional associated diagnosed and undiagnosed needs. All have a broadly average cognitive profile with behaviour presenting as the biggest barrier to accessing education.

It is essential that have a good understanding of Special Educational Needs associated with student who present with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs and or Autism and experience of working successfully with other agencies to help these children achieve positive outcomes. A high proportion of our children are eligible for pupil premium.
