We have an exciting opportunity here at Upton Junior School; we are looking for a Sports and Swim Coach to join our successful sports team at Upton Junior School. The right candidate will be a positive and enthusiastic person who loves working with children and has the desire to help children strive for their very best through engagement in sport. 

Upton Junior School is well-known within Thanet as a school that places huge emphasis on the positive values of sport for children. Having previously been National Sports Primary School of the Year during the London Olympics, Upton are recently ranked inside the Top 100 State Schools in the UK for sport for 2015-16. Combining core values of Inclusion and Excellence within sport, Upton have a superb uptake in sporting activities and are Thanet, Kent and National champions in numerous sports events. The school motto of 'One Childhood One Chance' leads into our 'STEP into Upton Sport' programme (Sportsmanship, Teamwork, Enjoyment and Participation) that drives everything we do.

The successful candidate will:

  • Fully embrace our 'One Childhood One Chance' philosophy.
  • Hold Swim Instructor and Lifeguard qualifications.
  • Have experience working in a school setting and leading groups of children.
  • Be committed to team working and leading by example. 
  • Be able to engage, motivate and support pupils, staff and parents; with flair; sensitivity and with consistently high expectations.
  • Possess the drive and determination to ensure our pupils receive a first class educational experience.
  • Have a willingness to get involved in the life of the school an advantage.

Pay Grade: KR6 £19,609 to £21,509 (approx £11,803 per annum), pro rata.

26 hours a week, 39 weeks per year (Term-time plus 5 x INSET days)
