Advert

An exciting opportunity has become available at St. Saviour's Church of England Junior School.  The post will be for 27.5 hours per week in term time only.  We are looking for an excellent teaching assistant to support the learning of children in classes, sets or small groups. Whilst the majority of responsibilities for these posts will be to deliver carefully tailored intervention strategies for children, you will be a class teaching assistant, and therefore will also support the teaching and learning of the whole class and small groups under the direction of the class teacher.  You may also be required to provide some cover in class while a class teacher takes a small group of children for pre or post-teaching activities.  Part of your duties would be to supervise children at lunch time on the playground.

Successful candidates will:

  • Have experience and an understanding of working within a Primary setting
  • Have excellent behaviour management skills
  • Have an NVQ (preferably level 2) or equivalent qualification
  • Have knowledge, skills and understanding of delivering teaching in small groups
  • Be committed to working within a team to deliver the best possible outcomes for children
  • Have excellent communication skills

We can offer you:

  • A supportive and sociable team of staff
  • Fabulous pupils
  • Excellent professional development
  • Opportunities to plan for support and provision  for children alongside class teachers

Applicants are welcome to view the school prior to application - please contact the School Bursar by email for further details: finance@st-saviours.kent.sch.uk

A maths and English assessment will form part of the recruitment process.  You will be asked to deliver a 20 min teaching activity to a group of six children on the day of your interview, should you be shortlisted.  Shortlisted candidates will be given further details of both maths and English assessments and teaching activity when they are invited for interview.

At least one interview panel member will be trained in safer recruitment and all offers of employment are subject to an enhanced DBS check.
