The High Weald Academy are looking for a part time teacher for September 2017, to deliver Psychology to our A level students.  This position is part time, FTE negotiable with the successful candidate, with full time available to candidates that can offer Science or Mathematics as a second subject.

Visits to the academy are highly recommended, and the leadership team would be happy to discuss the vision for the academy with candidates either during a visit, or during a telephone conversation.

The Successful candidate will:

  • Hold a relevant Degree and teaching qualification
  • Demonstrate sound classroom practice and innovation
  • Teach Psychology across the ability range at Key Stage 5
  • Mark and assess work regularly and to take part in the department’s quality assurance procedures
  • Monitor student progress and set targets to ensure expected progress is achieved
  • Work as part of a team, attend regular meetings and provide a major input into departmental development
  • Develop the contribution of Psychology to the School Improvement Plan
  • Take responsibility for a tutor group within the school’s vertical tutoring system
  • Follow the school’s behaviour for learning policy
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school.

This is a key post and will need a team player with vision, high expectations, flair, drive, determination, energy and a strong commitment to raising standards. A dedicated teacher is required, who will be committed to the high quality of teaching and learning in this school, which is a hallmark of its success. All teachers appointed to the school are allocated a tutor group and a candidate who can demonstrate experience and a willingness to undertake wider responsibilities will be welcomed.
