We are seeking an enthusiastic, committed Deputy Head of Maths with effect from September 2017 or sooner, to support in the leadership and development the Maths team at NLL. We value positive working relationships with both fellow colleagues and students and seek an individual who will support this ethos.  If you have a track record of securing excellent outcomes for students, and the right blend of leadership, management and interpersonal skills to be able to motivate students and staff, then we look forward to hearing from you.

Maths is a core subject and as such is very much at the heart of our curriculum. We contribute to the delivery of the subject at post-16 as part of the federated sixth form across Future Schools Trust. The Department is located in a suite of rooms in close proximity to each other.  

The successful candidate will lead the drive for continuous improvement and lead on further developing numeracy across the curriculum. This post will also require you to liaise with the Trust primary school on site to develop a Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 3 transition programme.

Main responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Developing and implementing policies and practices for the Maths Department.
  • Monitoring the progress made in achieving subject plans and targets and evaluating the impact on teaching and learning.
  • Assisting and developing the Maths team to enhance performance and share good practice.
  • Liaising with other Departments in order to encourage cross curricular co-operation with a focus on developing numeracy skills across the school.
  • Ensuring that the quality of students’ work is frequently assessed, and monitor standards and professional practice across the Department. 
  • Working with the AHT: Standards and Outcomes to ensure that data is effectively analysed and purposeful intervention strategies are established.
