We have a vacancy within our friendly and professional Day Nursery for a part time chef, working 27.5 hours a week (covering the hours 8am - 1.30pm, Mon- Fri).

Steps to School Day Nursery (which includes a Breakfast and After School Club for Borough Green Primary School) is open year round (excluding Bank Holidays and Christmas). We cater for 62 children per day, aged from 3 months to 11 years.

Candidates must have experience within a kitchen and hold a certificate at Level 2 in Food Hygiene.

Candidates must be prepared to:

• Work within nutritional guidelines and cook from fresh daily
• Adhere to all dietary requirments
• Undertake the cleaning of the kitchen area and it's equipment to ensure high standards of hygiene and health and safety are maintained
• Complete records of daily/ weekly cleaning and temperature control checks 
• Liase with Environmental Health during inspections
• Organise and maintain all stored foods and cleaning products, and
• Be well organised

Borough Green Primary School is a Foundation School which means that the school’s Governing Body has greater powers than in community primary schools. For example, the governors employ all school staff, they own the school site, can set certain school policies and have the power to determine the timing of the school year. Consequently, our governors are fully invested in the schoolcaters for children from 4 to 11 years of age with Steps to School, our on-site nursery and pre-school, providing childcare from 3 months and an after school club for our school age children.

Our school has a century’s history of success and is at the heart of the local community. We provide a highly enjoyable experience-based education for children aged 4 to 11 years. We aim for academic excellence but we also recognise the importance of every child’s personal development.
