We wish to appoint a capable and well-organised Clerk to undertake administrative and organisational support to the Governing Body. This is a part-time position paid monthly on the basis of the hours of work undertaken. The demands of the job will be variable from month to month. The work is term-time only.

Candidates should have the attributes, skills and knowledge to:

  • Liaise, and communicate with governors efficiently and professionally
  • Attend Board meetings and Committee meetings in an administrative capacity as required
  • Produce and distribute agendas and associated paperwork electronically in advance of meetings
  • Make accurate and succinct minutes of meetings
  • Type efficiently and accurately
  • Maintain and retrieve records as required
  • Draft letters for approval
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Provide information on request (where necessary after research), including technical information about governance
  • Chair the first part of the first meeting of each academic year (up to the point where a new Chair is elected).

Board meetings are held six times a year in the evenings (19:00 to approximately 21:00). Committee meetings are held at various times, sometimes during the day and sometimes during the evening. Dates of meetings are set well in advance. In addition to preparing for, and attending the Board and most of the Committee meetings at various times, administrative duties such as photocopying and filing will be carried out during school hours. Whilst some home working is possible (writing up minutes, etc.) other duties are generally carried out at the school address. The hours for this role will vary, ranging from approximately four to sixteen hours per month (term-time only), dependant on the schedule of meetings. In general, no work will be required during school holidays.

St Botolph's Church of England Primary School is a warm and friendly primary school located in Northfleet, Kent, which is always popular and oversubscribed. The school promotes a positive Christian ethos, behaviour is very good and there is a strong sense of community across all aspects of school life.

We currently have 14 classes that serve pupils between the ages of 4 and 11 years. Our pupils do well in school and we pride ourselves on developing the well-being and creativity of every child through after-school clubs, a creative curriculum and a strong Christian ethos. We benefit from attractive grounds and some new buildings.

The school operates as part of the Aletheia Academies Trust. The governing body is relatively small but has good levels of expertise.
