We are looking for an experienced, well organised and resilient teaching assistant to support pupils with Behaviour Emotional & Social Needs and Lead Nuture provision in our school. The ideal person will have a proven track record of managing a full range of challenging behaviours and a working knowledge of Boxall Nurture group strategies.

The successful candidate will be working in a nurture group classroom in addition to supporting pupils in the mainstream classes. The post will involve:

  • Delivering well-being interventions
  • Continual assessment of social, emotional and mental health needs
  • Effective and regular liaison with other professionals
  • Supporting transitions from the nurture group to the mainstream classrooms
  • Delivering lessons under the guidance of the SENCo and class teacher

Initially, the post will be based at our temporary site whilst the new school is built. Our new school, opening in September 2017, will include a Specialist Resource Base Provision (SRBP) for pupils with Behaviour Emotional & Social Needs. The unit, once the school is fully opened, will accommodate a maximum of 2 pupils per year group. 

We are fully committed to ensuring that pupils within this area of special need are integerated as fully as possible into our schools and that they feel as highly valued as all other pupils.

This can be an extremely challenging position, but equally very rewarding. The successful applicant will be joining a well established, forward thinking and supportive team of professionals.

Please be aware that the start date is anticipated to be 1st May but this is not yet final.

Location: Ashford, Kent, UK - Finberry Primary School is a growing primary school - A large, purpose-built site in Finberry Village, the school has an on-site nursery for 2,3 and 4 year olds and also hosts a Specialist Resource Provision dedicated for children with a primary need type of Autism.
